The Endpapers of Bob Staake Anybody engaged in the illustration of children's picture books knows the importance of the endpapers -- if only because they literally attach a book's interior pages to the cover itself. But on an aesthetic level, endpapers afford the illustrator and designer to visually set the scene for the story that will follow -- and even make a comprehensive statement about the book itself. I love creating my end papers -- maybe because it's the very last thing I do before finally finishing the book to move on to the next one. Here are some examples...
