Behind The Pages With Bob:

"I beed."

-- Bob Staake

Not only were the illustrations in this book created in my pre-digital days, the grays in the black and white line drawings were created using that ancient and once ubiquitous graphic arts adhesive film, 'Zipatone.'

Amazingly, virtually no people of color are represented in the illustrations for this book -- though it does have drawings of a sombrero-wearing Mexican. an Indian Sikk wearing a diaper and a pair of fat cops eating donuts.

Of the 54 illustrations in the book, Staake sstates that when looking at the them today "maybe 3 of drawings don't coax me to immediately projectile vomit."

Summary:

Strange things are happening all over the world. There's the "Toe Licker" of San Francisco; Jatti, the Most Beautiful Sheep in Pakistan; the attack of the kangaroo tails in Australia; and rousing games of Bovine Bingo in Michiigan.

For those who couldn't get enough of the weird and wacky stories in 'True and Tacky,' here is an all-new collection of over a hundred more of these deviant, droll, and downright deranged stories, direct from some of the world's most reputable news services.

Authors Carolyn Naifeh, a reporter for Voice of America, and Monica Hoose, a producer for the MacNeil/Lehrer NewsHour, know what serious journalism is. Nevertheless, they have complied another batch of some of the weirdest news that's almost not fit to print -- and all lavishly illustrated by Bob Staake.

It's tawdry, it's tasteless, and it's all true!
