Staake's children's
books for Random House, Simon & Schuster and Viking, are
often cited for their appeal to adults as well as kids. The American
Library Association says "Staake's (children's books) are
notable for the sophistication of their graphic design",
while Publisher's Weekly notes that his "modern, crisp illustrations

One
of the first illustrators to exploit the visual potential of

He resides
in Chatham, Massachusetts where he collects streamline moderne
Heywood - Wakefield furnishings, vintage pottery, and original
illustration art.
